What training will I receive?

All new foster parents complete an introductory course before approval, followed by ongoing training sessions. These cover child development, trauma, behaviour and practical care.

Do I get support after my first placement?

Yes. You will have regular supervision from your social worker, access to 24/7 support and invitations to support groups and family events.

Can I get help during an emergency?

Absolutely. AFA provides round-the-clock advice and support, so you are never alone when challenges arise.

Is there peer support for foster parents?
